Я начал работать над этим проектом 3 месяца назад, дата его выхода ожидается через 2-3 месяца (прим. так и случилось), а весить всё это дело будет 80-100МБ (прим. ~130Mb). Весь проект я делаю в одиночку, графика и 90% карты готовы, теперь осталось всё это заскриптовать.
Я также нуждаюсь в некоторой помощи от "знатоков Фотошопа", когда дело коснется специальных эффектов, я напишу о них в конце. Возможно, не все из вас видели этот сериал, но в Европе он имел колоссальный успех, и я решил делать карту по его сюжету.
Что будет:
50 новых существ (из WoW и Star Wars игр)
Новые и уникальные места (прим. переводчика: я точно не могу утверждать, что именно это имелось ввиду под словом layouts...)
Новые артефакты
Новые объекты
Другие боевые машины--> излечивают товарища по команде, запускают гранаты, мины, взрывчатку, все курсоры были изменены.
Другая музыка и звуки существ

It is my preferred too, he rocks indeed. On a comic effect he will have random funny dialogs when in battle. I just did not wanted him to be a fighter, but more a funny guy. He will have some magic strong attack anyway.

I think the gate should not be transparent, the composition is "naquadah", a high concentration of matter and we can not see through (in the movie). Also the connection with the ground is very difficult to make, maybe change the color for the base?

The original dendroids dwelling has only one frame. I did not try to add more frames to see what happens, but if it works, then the tower can be animated maybe? This will make easier the use of a light halo around. Only if...

I just ran a test and added frames to "one frame" dwellings and it works. That means that every dwelling can have unlimited animation. This may help if need to create a light halo around for TBRMUP_4.def (the tower) or even TBRMUP_0.def (the left object-centaur stables)

I think Dracolich missile is OK with the monster I choose for example. The magog also could be ok. But the others I think they all need different missile animations. Not a big design but just some fire effects. For example, with the titan, only recoloring the missile to red could do the job.

Misunderstood, as there is a show named StarGate Universe too. I watched the first 3 shows and closed it, very bad quality.

What about storyline?
The main races are human, wraith, replicator and genii with their respective models. For further races, it is the models I have which will determine them.

Actually there are 10 objects, and compiling them gives the city. Working on shadows for 10 objects to look as one alone is impossible for me. The city is on water and flying also. Because the city is in the air, the shadows are in the opposite corner from the normal shadows as they must show there is no ground under the city, Atlantis is a floating city.

Not in my map, but in the movie, the city periodically is immersed in water, and can fly too. It is an improved space ship.

Anyone ever succeeded in changing the Zresbar.bmp? I tried tens of palettes, colors, icons. The result is awful when in game. And several times it does not even want to install, if colors are not right. Is it something hardcoded or what?!

TUTORIAL 6: Preparing Interface Pictures
1) Do the 1 - 7 from Tutorial 1. Choose the type Interface and add all the pictures you want to process into the group
2) Switch to the Frames tab and turn the Transparent color check box on
3) Switch to the General tab
4) Turn the "Bitmaps" check box on and specify the path for generated bitmaps (btw, this feature does not work, so I had to create a def, then extract the bmp from)
5) Select "Add to Lod" under "Bitmaps" if you want to import the pictures into a .lod
6) Save the def list and click "Prepare Pictures By One" to convert the pictures into 256 colors
of course it is only a temporary layout, now that I can do it, I will choose a better design.

There is indeed a huge "english" story inside but I payed attention to not make the language a barrier. If you can't understand the dialogs, just skip them, will not be terrible.
Just need basic english, to choose in battle menus between haste/slow to cast, but there are gifs to show what you select, so...I think it should go smooth for everyone.

Yes, TE users will get error messages. Was tested and made only on 3.58. I think the errors when installing on another mod are coming from the 1.09 patch (which is inside), as it works only on clean WoG. No idea why.

Yes Gorinitch, thats how it works. Mapmaker open area for you, and hero is blind cursed, so his scouting radius will not have effect on fog of war. You don't need to remove fog, it is already removed by script every time you visit a planet. Just play as it is, you don't need to scout around.

Ну попал я в Атлантис, взял там лодку, через телепорт вниз спустился. Там несколько телепортов, чуть-чуть ресурсов и 4 охраняемых объекта, справиться с охраной ну никак не реально. Что делать-то?
Охрану нужно мочить гранатами. Гранаты закупаются в оружейной города.

Hippocamus, you have access to a custom dialog in battle, just right click on the four characters portraits. Everyone can do something, Teyla heals, McKay launch spells and the big guy is launching buff spells to increase damage/defense. All weapons, bullets, grenades can be bought in Atlantis weaponry. Watch out when they finish.

There was one hero meeting trigger not working when using ERA to play it but Berserker fixed it in his last ERA release (I think he has more infos about this). There are no other errors, mod is fully playable.

I don't know, can't test. But one hour testing is a bit fast to drop away a translation for a mod which takes weeks of real time play.

For me a translation was never a stop. Before translating TDS I played the map 15 times, and in chinese. Managed to finish ok.

One thing: I was not able to copy/paste the map description, as my system does not recognize Cyrillic. So only the description text is in english.

Именно это. Но это сугубо моё мнение. Мне кажется, что так. Возможно, я ошибаюсь. Доказать, конечно, ничего не смогу, да и не хочу, но признаки "на лицо".
Ну да. Машинный перевод + доработка вручную. Всяко проще чем с нуля, а главное быстрее. Когда речь идёт о выборе Ничего или такой перевод, я выбираю второе.
Ну, про "такой-никакой" я может быть и согласен (играть вряд ли буду, но в принципе выбор у всех появляется), а вот насчет "быстрее" - не очень. Если ты переводишь текст художественного стиля, шанс, что промт переведет то или иное слово верным образом (споры гриба -> mushroom's discussions), стремится к нулю. О структуре предложения, выборе времени речь вообще не идет.
A translation, to be proper, must be made in the following way:
1) You play in original language and finish the map, so you understand what's about.
2) Do a machine translation and paste it everywhere.
3) Start manually fix it, while looking carefully at scripts and compiling with your previous gaming experience. (it requires being comfortable with ERM handling)
4) Run the map at least once in the new language, hunt for typos and script errors.
At least this is how we did it for the chinese map TDS. It took me 1 day the machine translation, then 70 days to manually change and fix it, and we were two persons working on it, every day.
But this way is optimal. I will not complain about the russian translation, I am happy he did it, while I know he ignored steps 1, 4 and partially 3.
The map is very heavy in text, maybe the biggest of all times, and I can't ask to someone to spend 3 months on it to sound as Encyclopedia.
Really good translations can be made only by following way:
1) You play in original language and finish the map, so you understand what's it about.
2) You manually make literal translation (word by word) for all the text on map.
3) You rewrite literal translated text to literary text according to your taste and sense of style. Actually there aren't much difference between good translator and good writer.
4) Generally on last step you re-read all you have translated and make sure that all is right. For maps it means that you make sure you haven't hurt map scripts then run the map at least once at new language and fix any errors you notice.
This is only way that allows to make good translation. And yes, this way have been used hundreds of times even before there was any machines capable to do a machine translation.
P. S. And yes, it should sound not like Encyclopedia but like "The lord of the rings".

I don't agree on second. Most of time you have to translate from a language you don't know, as chinese-->english, russian--->english. So need machine first. Then fix machine by using your brain, ERM reading and your capacity to compile logical in-map actions.
Lord Haart, you are right, in theory. If one knows the source language, it is much easier, but not necessarily better.
I experienced it with the Chinese-->English translation of the "Dragon Slaughter" map, text heavy. We did not know a word of chinese, but worked hard and the upcoming translation is if not perfect, at least fitting to a high standard.
Sometimes the text can be changed, to get more proper sentences, within similar flavor. Machine translation is routing work, artistical translation may require other skills then knowing language. A word per word translation is a very bad idea, specially when dealing with languages where a single word can have up to 50 meanings, as chinese does. I don't know about russian.

Wog Master, I appreciate what you did. Perfect or not perfect, you did more than anyone here for Atlantis mod (except Astaroth naturally).
The mod is a total conversion of WoG, anf the russian translation is there only to facilitate approach and make it playable, not present a Lord of Rings romanced grammar (Lord of the Rings is a good literature standard anyway?).
Criticizing the translation is off topic, unless it is absolutely 100% not understandable. But I am unable to test its quality.
Actually, if someone of you provided us a machine translation of Phoenix mode, we would highly appreciate it because it would allow me or others to enjoy (at least partially) Berserker work. Which we can't right now.

Just a note: When I released it I included Baratorch HD patch (from months ago), with a few mine modifications.
But Atlantis will no more work with the latest Baratorch HD patch, the right click texts, the custom portraits and the custom icons will be ignored/replaced by HD patch.
So it can be played with the version included, but 100% not compatible with latest HD patch.

во-вторых. запустил h3wog.exe, запустил h3wog.exe_HD.exe (c установленным HD 2.24f) разницы не заметил, в чем проявляется 100% несовместимость с хд модом не понял.
Разве что панель ресурсов в HD геройская, но это исправляется несколькими кликами..

Atlantis is released with HD patch (one of the first version), of course the resource bar was modified by me to fit the new resources layout. My problem with the last version is that icons are changed, but this would not be hard to fix, if they did not also change the text when clicking right:
All the right clicks on icons produce custom text, and I don't know why the last HD patch ignore them.
Also when I play with Heroes32.exe_HD.exe I get the original portrait, it ignores the ERM scripts changing it.
About jumper, you must take the whirlpool (the jumper is highlighted when moving the mouse cursor on the tile)
I told you, that you can turn off most of the HD features in HiRez2.ini.
Set all values to zero, and you will get nothing else but high resolution.

Edit: I changed all options to 0 but still the text is original, not my scripted text. Also I can't run h3wog.exe_HD.exe, I get a black screen. I can run only Heroes32.exe_HD.exe when the hero portrait is still changed.
I think I have to remove all HD patch and reinstall it, as the combination with the GF 32 bit patch was not good.

I removed GrayFace 32 bit patch and all is working well. I needed for that to paste a clean wog.exe and a zdraw.dll, as removing it causes the HD setup to close. I guess now it is ok, thanks.

Yes, they are too big to be mixed with heroes regular lod, I am making my own lod, while keeping upper map regular, and underground very detailed.
I have a smaller version too (actually THIS is the town view on the upper map, when you enter, you visit the bigger town, underground)
From what game are walls on last picture? They look familiar to me.
From Black Phantom 3.58 patch, but he forgot to make them visible in the editor. They are from Warcraft I suppose.
I too thought they are from Warcraft I but I just checked it (by running Warcraft and building some walls) — nothing in common.

Stargate Atlantis was converted to ERA 2, mostly because the 3.58 install file was painful.
Changes/additions:
*Several regular dialogs converted to DL, for better gameplay and avoid endless scrolling.
*Bounty scripts were taken from JimV v.2 because they were just perfect
*All NPC's on map are now 3D creatures
*We don't have to visit anymore merchants, now all data about weekly prices and purchase are handled from a single DL
*Same for alliances dialog
*Added a lot of shortcuts for tedious tasks, as loading bullets belt etc
*All battle commands are now available through F1 key. Regular dialogs are still in use, and memory leaks still occur after a few hours. Restarting game cleans the memory.
*Changed the display order of McKay computer actions, from the most popular to the less, to avoid over clicking
*Many fixes in scripts, to preserve compatibility.
*Super fast install, no wog files anymore

I am happy the russian version by wog master is gone. It was google copy/paste, it would not help you. Better learn english, it will serve when Obama will rule the world.
